NRL restart draws 4.5m Australian viewers

Getty ImagesThe National Rugby League (NRL), Australia’s premier rugby league competition, attracted close to 4. 5 million domestic viewers last week for its behind-closed-doors return. As the NRL's 2020 season got back up and running after a ten-week hiatus, live games aired by pay-TV’s Fox Sports and commercial network Channel Nine on 30th and 31st May scored roughly one fifth more viewers compared to the same round last season.  In total, just over 4. 49 million people in Australia tuned into the NRL by the end of the weekend, surpassing viewership during the 2019 season’s corresponding round-three matches.  However, the broadcast figures do not take into account streaming audiences across Foxtel’s Kayo Sports or the Telstra Live Pass on the official NRL app.
