BeIN Sports pockets IndyCar rights in MENA region

Getty ImagesBeIN Sports has signed a two-year deal to acquire the exclusive broadcast rights to the NTT IndyCar Series in 24 territories across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).  The Qatari-based pay-TV broadcaster will begin its live coverage of the North American open-wheel racing series on 7th June, providing Arabic and English commentary of the race at Texas Motor Speedway. Financial terms of the deal, which covers the 2020 and 2021 seasons, have not been disclosed. “As live sports return across the world, BeIN is delighted to be at the heart of all the action,” said Jonathan Whitehead, the head of sports at BeIN MENA. “BeIN Sports will exclusively broadcast these thrilling races to its fans and subscribers in the region. ”BlackBook Motorsport 2020: The racing industry weighs its post-pandemic futureIndyCar previously held media rights agreements in the Middle East with ESPN and OSN, which shuttered its sports channels last year.
