Another Down Broadcast TV Year: Only 15 Of 133 Shows Improved In 2019-2020

Only five of the top 20 broadcast networks TV series and 15 of 133 shows posted viewing gains versus a year ago. Two big gainers were NFL sports programs: Top-rated “Sunday Night Football” on NBC and third-best-rated “Thursday Night Football” on Fox. This comes as broadcast TV networks continue to post mid-double-digit-percentage linear TV/time-shifted viewing declines overall compared to a year ago. “Sunday Night Football” continued its long-time leadership position among all broadcast TV shows -- up 6. 1% to 20. 09 million viewers, looking at Nielsen-measured data, live program-plus-seven days of time-shifted viewing.
