Australia and New Zealand’s hopes of hosting the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup have been given a boost after soccer’s global governing body ranked the trans-Tasman bid highest in its evaluation report of the three contenders. Published by Fifa on 10th June, the report scored the joint bid highest at 4. 1 out of five, followed by Japan on 3. 9 and Colombia on 2. 8. Brazil withdrew its candidacy on 8th June saying the government did not want to offer financial guarantees due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
