The industry outlet reports that the billionaire owners of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL) have purchased a stake of less than five per cent in the NFL franchise. Forbes’ most recent list of NFL team values gave the Steelers a valuation of US$2. 8 billion, which would place Harris and Blitzer’s investment at around US$140 million. The pair will join as passive investors, Bloomberg said, adding that they will have no input on operations in the Steelers, whose majority owner is the Rooney family.
